Hydrogen: The Clean Energy of the Future
Hydrogen is more than just a gas – it's the key to decarbonizing our planet. Discover why the world is turning to green hydrogen as the ultimate energy carrier for a sustainable tomorrow.
What is Hydrogen?
Hydrogen (H₂) is the simplest and most abundant element in the universe. Unlike fossil fuels, it is an energy carrier – it stores and transports energy produced from other sources, rather than being an energy source itself.
Hydrogen can be produced from all kinds of energy sources: wind, solar, natural gas, or even nuclear power. However, in the Nordics, there is a clear agreement that all hydrogen we produce and use must come from 100% renewable energy sources – making it truly green.
When green hydrogen is consumed in a fuel cell, it combines with oxygen to produce electricity and heat. The only byproduct? Pure water. This makes it the perfect solution for sectors that are hard to electrify, such as heavy transport, steel manufacturing, and chemical industries.
From Water to Water – The Perfect Cycle
Why It Matters
- High Energy Density Hydrogen contains 120 MJ/kg - 3x more energy per kilogram than diesel or gasoline (44 MJ/kg).
- Zero Emissions Using hydrogen produces zero CO₂. The only emission is pure water vapor.
- Inexhaustible Supply Hydrogen can be produced from water, a resource available everywhere on our planet.
- Safe & Reliable Non-toxic, dissipates quickly if leaked, and stored safely in tested pressure vessels.
The Hydrogen Tech Stack
A complete ecosystem from production to power.
1. Production
Electrolysis
Water is split into Hydrogen and Oxygen using renewable electricity.
- Oxygen (Anode side)
- Hydrogen (Cathode side)
- Waste heat captured for heating
2. Storage
Pressure Vessels
Stored in "gas mode" without complex liquefaction cooling.
- 200-700 bar pressure range
- Scalable tank solutions
- Safe composite materials
3. Usage
Fuel Cells (PEM)
Converting hydrogen back to electricity with high efficiency.
- Up to 90,000 hours lifespan
- Modular stack design
- Zero emission power output
A Rapidly Growing Market
The global shift towards decarbonization is driving unprecedented investment in hydrogen technologies.
Planned investment in green hydrogen by the European Union by 2030.
Hydrogen is projected to meet 24% of the world's energy needs by 2050.
Future-proof investment against rising carbon taxes and environmental regulations.
Not All Hydrogen is Created Equal
Supreme Hydrogen Group is exclusively focused on Green Hydrogen. It is essential to understand the difference.
Grey Hydrogen
Fossil Fuel Based
Produced from natural gas through steam methane reforming. CO₂ is released into the atmosphere. Currently the most common, but unsustainable.
Blue Hydrogen
Carbon Capture
Also produced from natural gas, but the CO₂ is captured and stored underground. Better than grey, but still relies on finite fossil resources.
Green Hydrogen
100% Renewable
Produced by splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen using renewable electricity (wind, solar). Zero carbon footprint. The only sustainable future.
Powering the World
Transport
Fueling the future of heavy logistics, maritime shipping, and public transit without emissions.
Industry
Replacing fossil fuels in high-heat processes like steel and cement production.
Real Estate
Providing off-grid power, backup energy, and heating for sustainable building complexes.
Grid Balancing
Storing excess renewable energy to stabilize the power grid when the sun doesn't shine.
